Video: Erin Sullivan Remembers Tony Winning Playwright Mark Medoff

On this Tony Tuesday, we celebrate the 2018-2019 Broadway season. But we also remember those theater artists and legends we’ve lost over the past year. Last week, the theater community mourned the passing of playwright Mark Medoff. Medoff won a Tony Award for his play Children of a Lesser God.

For Triangle-based actor Erin Sullivan, Medoff was not just a name on a marquee, but also a mentor. Sullivan originated the role of Marilyn Monroe in Medoff’s 2015 play Marilee and Baby Lamb. Yesterday she spoke to RDU on Stage about her friend, that play, and the tough love that changed her as an actor and person.

In lieu of flowers, the Medoff family has requested donations be made to the Mark Medoff Visiting Lecture Series at New Mexico State University. Gifts made payable to the NMSU Foundation can be mailed to the NMSU Foundation, PO Box 3590, Las Cruces, NM 88003. You can also donate online at https://advancing.nmsu.edu/givenow. Please indicate the gift is for the Mark Medoff Lecture Series, Fund # 987261.
