Filled with warm humor and tremendous heart, SWEAT tells the story of a group of friends who
have spent their lives sharing drinks, secrets, and laughs while working together on the factory
floor. But when layoffs and picket lines begin to chip away at their trust, the friends find
themselves pitted against each other in a heart-wrenching fight to stay afloat.
Director, Jerry Sipp said, “SWEAT earned Lynn Nottage her second Pulitzer Prize, the only
woman to have received this honor twice. As we watch this group of friends pitted against one
another over a labor union strike and lockout, it feels like it was ripped from today’s
headlines. SWEAT reminds us of the human cost of globalism, greed, and capitalism at its
worst. Still, the bond between the characters is so knotted together through their shared sweat
that we root for them to overcome together. Our extraordinary cast of JTP veterans and
newcomers is committed to this ensemble piece and can’t wait to mine the depths of these
complex characters. It’s going to be a wild and rewarding ride for our actors and audiences.”
