For many of us, including me, ANNIE was our first musical theatre experience. My parents had exposed me to movie musicals like THE SOUND OF MUSIC, THE WIZARD OF OZ, and MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS. But it wasn’t until my Aunt Martha introduced me to the original Broadway cast recording of ANNIE, I became obsessed with the theater. This month, a whole new generation of kids will have the opportunity to fall in love with ANNIE when the North Carolina Theatre production, directed by Eric Woodall, opens at the Duke Energy Center July 23rd. This production stars Tony Award-winner Karen Ziemba as Miss Hannigan, who talks about music, dance, her first Broadway show, A CHORUS LINE, and of course, the North Carolina Theatre production of ANNIE.
